Crash On Garden State Parkway In Bloomfield Amid Snowstorm

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Say hello to the snow, Bloomfield.

On Thursday, Nov. 15, towns across Essex County saw the first snowfall of the winter season. Forecasters predicted the possibility of several inches of snow/rain and 55-mph winds, which created the potential for power outages and hazardous roads. (Read more about the forecast here)

As predictions of snow and ice across New Jersey came true on Thursday, another forecast also reared its ugly head: weather-related crashes.

"Please use caution when you are out on the roads today," the Bloomfield Division of Public Safety announced Thursday. "Our DPW has begun salting the roadways. Drive slowly and arrive at your destination safely‬."

Delays up to 10 miles were reported around 3:05 p.m. on the Garden State Parkway southbound from Exit 150 - Hoover Avenue in Bloomfield to Exit 140 - US 22/NJ 82 in Union Township. "Motorists should anticipate delays and use caution due to current roadway conditions," 511NJ.org reported.

About an hour later, an accident took place on the Garden State Parkway southbound North of Exit 148 - John F Kennedy Dr North in Bloomfield. All lanes were open to traffic, 511NJ.org stated.
