Crews Battle Bloomfield House Blaze; 'Heavy Damage' Reported

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Firefighters from Bloomfield recently got an assist from their peers in Belleville and Nutley while battling a house fire on Evergreen Avenue, authorities said.

The Bloomfield Division of Public Safety released the following statement about the fire:

“[On Feb. 11,] firefighters from Group 3 led by DC Nelson battled a house fire on Evergreen Avenue. The single-family home sustained heavy fire damage to the 2nd and 3rd floors. Thankfully, all occupants were not home when the fire broke out. Belleville Engine 3 and Nutley Ladder 1 assisted our Bloomfield companies on scene. Crews conducted extensive overhaul and remained on scene for about four hours.”

There were no reported injuries; the cause of the fire is under investigation, authorities said.
