Critical Injuries Reported After Car Hits NJ Transit Bus in Essex County
Driver flees scene following crash; May have been drunk, reports say.

A 1998 Cadillac Eldorado collided with a Bloomfield-bound NJ Transit bus on Friday morning in Newark, critically injuring the car’s passenger and sending six others to the hospital.
The accident took place around 2 a.m., at the intersection of Central Avenue and South Eighth Street. According to a statement from NJ Transit, the car ran a red light and struck the bus.
The driver of the Cadillac initially fled the scene of the collision and was later found at a nearby gas station, reported the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Several news reports stated that the driver may have been intoxicated when the accident occurred.
Prosecutors stated that investigators obtained a search warrant to take blood from the driver of the Cadillac, but at this time, no charges have been filed.
