Dog Abandoned In Bloomfield; ‘Emotional Support Animal’ On Leash

A man was captured on video leaving a dog at the Bloomfield Animal Shelter, staff say. "Emotional Support Animal" was printed on its leash.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A man was recently captured on video leaving a dog at the Bloomfield Animal Shelter, staff say.

On Friday, the shelter shared the following social media post with a photo of a dog (see below):

“This gorgeous guy was let loose on our property around 8 p.m. [on Thursday, Oct. 28]. According to security footage, it appears an adult Caucasian male, driving a light-colored SUV-type vehicle, entered our property and set the dog free. The dog is a friendly, intact adult male, wearing a chain collar with red leash that says ‘Emotional Support Animal’ attached. We are in the process of reviewing more footage. If you recognize this dog, or can provide information to help locate his owner, please contact us at 973-748-0194 or the Bloomfield Police Department at 973-680-4141. You can remain anonymous.”
