Dog Rescued From Fire At Bloomfield Apartment Building
Bloomfield firefighters arrived at the scene to find that all of the residents were out of the building – except for a dog.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A fire took place at an apartment building in Bloomfield on Sunday, leaving the building damaged and sending a dog to the vet, authorities said.
According to the Bloomfield Fire Department, the blaze happened at the Brookdale Gardens at 935 Broad Street. Fire crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the two-story building.
Firefighters learned that all of the residents were out of the building – except for a dog, which was still missing.

Here’s what happened next, authorities said:
“While simultaneously conducting a fire attack, members searched the second-floor apartment and located the missing animal. Firefighters brought the dog outside and administered oxygen using our pet mask (equipped on all apparatus). With the assistance of the Bloomfield Police Department, we transported the dog to an emergency vet.”
The dog is reportedly recovering well, authorities said.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames. Smoke damage affected the neighboring apartments, authorities said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, officials said.
The Bloomfield Fire Department received assistance from local police, their peers in Belleville and Nutley, and emergency medical workers from Bloomfield and Glen Ridge.
