DoorDash Driver’s Car Stolen In Bloomfield; 2 Other Thefts Reported

Other thefts involved a stolen jet ski and a pilfered BMW, Bloomfield police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Several vehicle thefts took place in Bloomfield last week, including one involving a DoorDash driver, authorities announced Friday.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers responded to the 100-block of Bloomfield Avenue on Aug. 5 after getting a report about a motor vehicle theft.

The owner – a DoorDash driver – said she left her car running and unlocked while she made a delivery. A white Acura then pulled up next to the car, and someone jumped in and drove away, police said.

The vehicle, a silver 2021 Chevy Malibu, was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) as stolen. The theft is under investigation, police said.

July 31 – “Officers responded to the 100-block of LaFrance Avenue on report of a motor vehicle theft. A resident’s Ring camera captured the complainant’s truck and trailer with jet ski being removed from his driveway at approximately 3:10 a.m. The complainant left the key fob in the vehicle. The vehicle, a gray 2005 Titan pickup, and the Kawasaki jet ski were entered into the NCIC as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”

Aug. 2 – “Officers responded to the area of Thomas Street on report of a motor vehicle theft. A resident parked her vehicle in front of her residence and upon returning to it the following morning, she noticed it was missing. The keys were left in the vehicle. The vehicle, a gray 2011 BMW 535, was entered into the NCIC as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”
