Elvis Costello Sells Out Wellmont Show
Fans will have another chance to see him tonight and spin the wheel to choose a song.
Elvis Costello, the iconic musician known for everything from his punk rock roots to his collaboration with Burt Bacharach, captivated the audience at the Wellmont Theatre Wednesday night.
Costello and The Imposters started playing around 8 p.m. and didn't finish until 10 p.m., playing old favorites including "Radio Radio" and "Miracle Man" along with the covers of other bands including the Rolling Stones' hit "Out of Time." His encore featured more fan favorites, including "Alison," and "Everyday I Write the Book."
Costello, in his trademark hat and vintage suit, walked through the sold-out audience and brought some fans on stage. The fans got to spin a giant spinning wheel of song titles and themes, then Costello would play the song, or a selection of theme songs. The fans got to stay on stage after their spin, watching from chairs - or dancing in a go-go cage.
