Essex Cops Conduct Plainclothes Operation In Bloomfield Near North 16th Street

Police recovered a loaded .45 caliber Millennium handgun that was reported stolen out of North Carolina.

Bloomfield, NJ – Essex County Sheriff’s Office police conducted a plainclothes arrest of an Irvington man and recovered an allegedly stolen handgun during an encounter last week.

According to police, officers from the department’s Bureau of Narcotics conducted a plainclothes surveillance operation in Bloomfield on Saturday at the intersection of Bloomfield Avenue and North 16th Street.

While on duty, detectives allegedly observed Demetreous Lynch, 24, of Irvington, illegally parked in a 2001 Cadillac Seville with improper safety glass.

When the sheriff’s detectives asked Lynch to step out of his vehicle, the officers observed a fully loaded .45 caliber Millennium handgun on the driver’s floorboard, authorities said.

Police stated that the handgun was reported stolen out of Charlotte, North Carolina on January 6, 2009.

Officer arrested Lynch and charged with the unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and receiving stolen property. He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for illegal parking and unsafe safety glass.
