Essex County Couple Assaulted At Bloomfield Laundry Zone
The Newark residents may have captured the incident on video, police say.

A 25-year-old male and 23-year-old female – both Newark residents – were assaulted at a Bloomfield Laundry Zone on the evening of July 24.
The incident began at 5:10 p.m., when a 25-year-old male and 23-year-old female – both Newark residents – were doing their laundry at the Bloomfield Avenue facility.
The male victim told police that he left the Laundry Zone to get a drink and was on his way back, when a male and female pulled aside him in a red 1997 Chevy. When the car stopped, the female suspect allegedly got out of the car and began to scream at him, and the male suspect exited the car with a bat or pipe in his hands.

At that point, the male victim took out his cellphone and began to record the incident, and returned to the Laundry Zone with the female suspect in pursuit.
The female suspect allegedly began to physically assault the male victim, then turned and began to assault the female victim.

When the male victim went to defend his companion, the male suspect allegedly hit him in the back of the head and rendered him unconscious.
Emergency responders transported both victims to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
