Essex County Holds 2017 Special Olympics In Brookdale Park (VIDEO)
Brookdale Park in Montclair and Bloomfield hosted hundreds of local champions for Essex County's annual Special Olympics competition.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ —Brookdale Park in Montclair and Bloomfield hosted hundreds of local champions Wednesday during Essex County’s annual Special Olympics competition. About 340 students from more than 20 public and private special education programs partook in the day’s track and field events, which included assistance from police officers in several neighboring townships.
The Bloomfield Police Department was one of the participating agencies, and actively promoted the event on social media.

Other police representatives included Cedar Grove Police Lieutenant Eileen O’Toole, who participated in the presentation of awards to the athletes.
