Underachieving high school senior Llyod Dobler (John Cusack) wants nothing more than to date the beautiful valedictorian, Diane Court, (Ione Skye) who has just won a fellowship to study in England. Diane also has an over-protective father (John Mahoney) with issues of his own. This romantic comedy is famous for the iconic scene in which Lloyd holds a boom box playing Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes."
