Fake ‘Mail Carrier’ Tried To Enter Cars In Bloomfield: Police

A man posing as a mail carrier was seen trying to illegally enter vehicles in Bloomfield, police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A man posing as a mail carrier was seen trying to illegally enter vehicles in Bloomfield last week, police said.

The Bloomfield Police Department released the following statement about the incident, which took place on Dec. 29:

“Officers responded to the area of Walnut Street on report of a theft from auto. According to a resident, a male posing as a mail carrier was attempting to enter vehicles on the block. The suspect was able to gain access into the trunk of one of the vehicles. The suspect was confronted, but fled the scene in a silver Volvo.”

Police are investigating the incident, authorities said Thursday.
