Family Service League Awarded Grant from PSEG Foundation

It is with great pleasure and honor that Family Service League proudly announces that we have been selected as one of the recipients of the PSEG Foundation Grants. With the help of this grant, FSL will be able to continue to provide free rides to survivors of sexual violence and their significant others to and from their counseling appointments, and medical, law enforcement or court accompaniments.

According to the American Health Association, annually 3.6 million people in the United States cannot obtain medical care due to transportation issues. These issues are conflated when the lack of transportation intersects with other issues, such as poverty. At Family Service League, about 85% of our clients live below the federal poverty line. Not all people have access to in-person services. In 2022, 3,084 of our therapy sessions were held through telehealth. While telehealth is a viable option, it does not always meet the need for privacy and sociability for families, individuals, and couples to thrive and achieve all treatment goals. As sessions provided to survivors of sexual violence made up 71% of all sessions held at FSL in 2022, providing access to transportation will have a remarkable impact on our clients’ access to services, and increase our ability to serve our community immensely.
The PSEG Foundation (501(c)(3)), the philanthropic arm of Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) (NYSE:PEG), prioritizes investments in promoting environmental sustainability, social justice, and equity and economic empowerment.
