Fatal Fire At Bloomfield Home Claims Life Of 85-Year-Old Man: PD

A Bloomfield man died after being injured in a fire on Evelyn Place, authorities said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A fire in Bloomfield claimed the life of an 85-year-old man on Wednesday, authorities said.

Warren Froehlich, 85, sustained serious injuries during a fire at 14 Evelyn Place, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Bloomfield Public Safety Department.

Froehlich was transported to Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge, where he was pronounced dead at 12:57 p.m. on Wednesday, authorities said.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force and the Bloomfield Police Department are investigating the cause of the fire.
