I am writing about Manny aka Mike Corby, a long time resident of Bloomfield. He was born here in 1955 and is still going strong. I am writing this story about him for two reasons. First, because when I saw him in Brookside Park with a small shovel and metal detector, he seemed to be having fun. And showed me several items he had found in Bloomfield. And second, he told me that he once was a confirmed alcoholic for many years but has been sober twenty plus years when he put his life on a different path and has remained clean to this day. If this is what has helped him cope with this disease, than he really did find gold.
