Fire In Bloomfield Claims Woman’s Life: Officials

An 83-year-old woman died after a fire took place at a Bloomfield home, authorities said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — An 83-year-old woman died after a fire took place at a Bloomfield home on Friday evening, authorities said.

Emergency responders managed to pull the victim from a burning house on Watsessing Avenue and administer CPR, but she passed away later after being taken to Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, NorthJersey.com reported.

The deceased woman was the only person living at the home, Fire Chief Louis Venezia told NorthJersey.com.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the fire, which caused damage to the first and second floors of the two-story building, but the blaze doesn’t appear to be suspicious, officials told TAP Into Bloomfield.
