BLOOMFIELD, NJ -- Bloomfield firefighters put out a blaze at a Bloomfield Avenue building on Thursday, authorities said.
The Bloomfield Fire Department released the following details about the incident:
"Early this morning, the Bloomfield Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial structure on Bloomfield Avenue for an activated fire alarm. Deputy 2 was first to arrive and encountered a smoke condition coming from the basement, and determined that there was a working fire in the building. Units found a fire in the basement that was contained by a sprinkler system until they could fully extinguish it. Due to the quick work of our firefighters and a properly operating sprinkler system, the amount of fire spread was limited to the area of origin."
