Halloween Dog Costume Contest Returns To Brookdale Park For 2022

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A popular Halloween dog costume contest will return to Brookdale Park for 2022.

Essex County will hold three “Strutt Your Mutt” contests and parades for local dog owners, including one at Brookdale Park, which is located in Montclair and Bloomfield.

Registration for the Brookdale Park contest will take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29 at the dog park on Grove Street. The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Participation is free. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places in a variety of categories. For more information, call 973-268-3500.

“The Essex County Dog Parks have become popular places for dog owners to bring their faithful companions,” Essex County Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. said.

“In turn, the canine costume parades are growing into a favorite Halloween celebration for everyone to enjoy,” he added. “Whether you own a dog or not, we invite you to come see creative costumes worn by dogs of all breeds.”
