Heat Causes Half-Days At Bloomfield Schools: Wednesday, Thursday

Bloomfield Public Schools will have half-days on Sept. 5 and 6 due to the excessive heat.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — In light of "record heat and humidity predictions" for Sept. 5 and 6, the Bloomfield Public Schools will be having half-days for students on Wednesday and Thursday, district administrators said.

There will be no YMCA aftercare on Sept. 5 and 6, school administrators stated.

"We recognize that the start of the school year presents challenges for many of our parents and guardians and this decision was not taken lightly," administrators wrote. "After conferring with our adjacent school district communities we have concluded that 1/2 day schedules are in the best interest of student health and welfare as we begin the 2018-2019 academic year."
