Home Burglary Suspect Arrested In Bloomfield: Police
The suspect tried to flee after the home's resident confronted him, but he didn't escape police, authorities said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield police apprehended a home burglary suspect shortly after he tried to flee the scene of the crime on Wednesday, authorities said.
According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers responded to a residence on Broad Street after getting a report about a burglary in progress.
The home’s resident confronted the intruder after he entered the through an unlocked front door. The suspect then fled the scene – but not before taking a set of car keys, police said.

Officers arrested the suspect – later identified as Jose Vasquez, 34, of Bloomfield – as he attempted to escape in a different vehicle, police said.
Bloomfield Police Chief George Ricci commended the involved officers for their “swift response” during the incident.
