Man Accused Of Double Stabbing Arrested In Bloomfield

Police arrested a man in Bloomfield after he stabbed two people in Hudson County, authorities said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Police arrested a man in Bloomfield last week after he allegedly stabbed two people in Hudson County, authorities said.

According to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, the stabbing took place on July 5 in Jersey City. A male victim died, and a female victim was injured.

On Thursday, police arrested Joshua Gonzalez, 24, of Hoboken, at 11:10 a.m. in the area of Franklin Street in Bloomfield.

Prosecutors released the following statement about the stabbings:

“On Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at approximately 6:42 a.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to Clinton Avenue on reports of an aggravated assault. Responding officers found a 22-year-old woman with a serious apparent stab wound. The woman was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where she remains in stable condition. At approximately 10 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified that an injured person was located at 186 McAdoo Avenue. Responding officers found the lifeless body of a man — later identified as Jason Khusial, 21, of Jersey City — with multiple apparent stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:14 a.m. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the Cause of death to be multiple sharp force wounds to the torso and the Manner of death to be homicide. The investigation determined Khusial had been injured during the Clinton Avenue incident.”

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit charged Gonzalez with murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(1)(2), a first-degree crime; attempted murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-1 and 2C:11-3a(1)(2), a first-degree crime; felony murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(2), a first-degree crime; burglary in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:18-2, a second-degree crime; unlawful possession of a weapon (knife) in violation 2C:39-5d, a fourth-degree crime; possession of a weapon (knife) for an unlawful purpose in violation of 2C:39-4d, a third-degree crime; resisting arrest by flight in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-2a(3), a fourth-degree crime; and violation of a restraining order in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-9a, a fourth-degree crime.

Following his arrest, Gonzalez was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny pending a court appearance, prosecutors said.
