Victim Stabbed In Back In Bloomfield; Assailant Surrenders: Police
Bloomfield police arrested a man and charged him with aggravated assault after he allegedly stabbed a victim in the back, authorities said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield police arrested a man and charged him with aggravated assault after he allegedly stabbed a victim in the back, authorities announced Tuesday.
According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers responded to Williamson Avenue and Belleville Avenue on Friday after getting a report about an assault.
The victim told officers that he was walking on Williamson Avenue, when a man wearing a white-hooded sweatshirt got out of a gray BMW and brandished a knife. The man stabbed the victim in the back and fled the scene, police said.

The suspected assailant surrendered himself to Bloomfield detectives on Tuesday. His identity wasn’t released in an initial police statement. Authorities charged him with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and endangering an injured victim, and transported him to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark.
A police investigation into the assault continues, authorities said.
