Man Swindled In Bloomfield Parking Lot, Pair Steals $10K Necklace: Police

A man was swindled out of an expensive necklace during an encounter in a local parking lot. Here's how it happened, police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A man was swindled out of an expensive necklace during an encounter in a parking lot in Bloomfield last week, police say.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the victim reported the theft at police headquarters on Friday.

The victim said a man and a woman in a car asked him for directions in the parking lot of a business on the 60-block of Belleville Avenue.

After he gave them directions, the woman offered him three necklaces and a bracelet. When she put the necklace around his neck, the woman took the victim’s own necklace, police said.

The victim said he noticed his jewelry was missing after the pair left the area. It was valued at $10,000, police said.
