Anti-Trump Rallies Taking Place In Essex County On Easter Weekend (See Locations)
Another round of protests are being planned across the nation, including in Bloomfield, Glen Ridge and West Caldwell.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Another round of demonstrations against the Trump administration will be taking place across the nation on the Easter holiday weekend, with multiple events reportedly scheduled in Essex County.
Organizers with 50501 are calling for a national day of action on Saturday, April 19 against the “anti-democratic and illegal actions of the Trump administration and its plutocratic allies.”
“50501 is a peaceful movement,” activists say on their website. “Violence of any kind will not be tolerated.”

According to an online tracker, local events – each organized independently – will be taking place in Bloomfield, Glen Ridge and West Caldwell:
- BLOOMFIELD – One Municipal Plaza, from 1 to 3 p.m.
- GLEN RIDGE – intersection of Ridgewood Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue, noon to 2 p.m.
- WEST CALDWELL – Crane Park, 30 Clinton Road, noon to 2 p.m.

This weekend’s events are being organized in the wake of a national day of protest against President Donald Trump, Elon Musk and the federal budget cuts that took place on April 5, which was spearheaded by different organizations.

More than 1,200 rallies of various sizes took place across the United States on April 5, with some sources estimating the overall attendance at over a million people. The close timing of the two days of action – and an ongoing debate over the purpose of the April 19 events – has created confusion among some activists, with 50501 organizers recently attempting to clear things up in a substack post.
Essex County has also seen support for Trump, including a rally in Montclair organized by local GOP voters prior to the president’s Election Day victory.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris took Essex County in the 2024 presidential election, nailing down 224,596 votes (71.69 percent). Trump scored 83,908 votes – about 26.78 percent.
Trump performed much better on a statewide basis in last November’s election, however, flipping five New Jersey counties from blue to red.
