More Catalytic Converter Thefts In Bloomfield: Here’s Where

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Catalytic converter thefts continue to be reported in Bloomfield, authorities say.

The latest Bloomfield Police Department blotter included two thefts involving the expensive car parts (see below).

Earlier this month, police warned car owners about a recent spike in catalytic converter thefts across the township. The thefts are mostly taking place between 2 and 4 a.m., authorities said.

At least two more thefts have taken place since then, according to the BPD:

April 20 – “Officers responded to the area of Evans Road after getting a report about a catalytic converter theft. A resident parked his vehicle in front of his residence on April 14, and when he returned to it on April 20, he noticed it was louder than usual. The resident noticed that the catalytic converter was missing. This incident is under investigation.”

April 23 – “Officers responded to the area of North End Terrace after getting a report about a catalytic converter theft. A resident parked his vehicle in front of his residence on April 20 and when he returned to it on April 22, he noticed it was louder than usual. The resident took the vehicle to a repair shop where it was discovered that the catalytic converter was missing. This incident is under investigation.”
