BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A Bloomfield resident was alerted to a potential car theft last week when he heard music coming from the vehicle, police said.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers responded to the 100-block of Sylvan Road on Feb. 17 after getting a report about an attempted motor vehicle theft.

The car owner told officers that he heard music playing from the vehicle and went outside to investigate. He saw that the car’s engine was running and the radio was playing. When he took a closer look, the resident saw a rock in his driver’s seat and damage to the ignition, police said.
