New School Year Here In Bloomfield; Cops Offer Vital Reminders
Here are a couple of quick reminders about school buses and crosswalks, Bloomfield police say.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Students in Bloomfield are starting a new school year, and it’s time for a couple of quick-but-important reminders, police say.

Bloomfield police recently reminded local drivers that it’s a good time to brush up on what to do around school buses and crosswalks. Authorities said:

- “As the new school year approaches, Bloomfield police reminds everyone that when a school bus has its STOP SIGN out and Red Lights Flashing, cars in BOTH directions MUST STOP until the lights are turned off!”
- “When you see someone in a marked crosswalk, you must STOP to allow the pedestrian the right of way to cross the street safely!”
- “Please SLOW DOWN and allow yourself extra time to arrive at your destination safely!”
Bloomfield police also issued a reminder to local parents about teaching kids how to safely cross the street.

“Teach children to wait for the green light or walk signal, to use crosswalks and to look left, right and then left again before crossing,” police stated. “Teaching safe behavior at a young age can save a life.”
