Bloomfield Pedestrian Killed By Truck Identified

No charges have been filed against a driver who struck and killed a 59-year-old Bloomfield pedestrian near Broad and James St., police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Authorities have released the identity of a 59-year-old Bloomfield pedestrian who died after a pickup truck struck him last week.

A man driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck struck Patrick Forsyth, 59, of Bloomfield, near the intersection of Broad and James streets at 8:33 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and Bloomfield Public Safety Department said in a joint statement.

Emergency responders transported Forsyth to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead at 9:12 am on Jan. 11.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene, police said.

“At this time, no charges have been filed,” prosecutors said Monday. “The investigation is active and ongoing.”
