Orange Squirrel Chef to Compete on Food Network

"Savory sabotage" is what is on the menu for the new Food Network competition show "Cutthroat Kitchen," which premieres Sunday at 10 p.m. with a familiar face: According to a report in the Bloomfield Times, Francesco Palmieri, owner and executive chef of local Italian restaurant The Orange Squirrel will be a contestant.

In the game, hosted by "Good Eats" and "Iron Chef" personality Alton Brown, chefs have $25,000 to spend on helping their cause or sabotaging other contestants, the article said. The competitors are asked to perform tasks such as cooking a chicken-free chicken dish, preparing a dish without tasting it or working with plastic utensils rather than legitimate kitchen tools.

Palmieri told the Times that the show gave him an opportunity to put the Orange Squirrel and Bloomfield in the national spotlight.
