Oratorio Society's American Inspired! Concert

April 25th concert at Union Congregational Church, Cooper Avenue, Montclair

ORATORIO SOCIETY OF NEW JERSEY TO PRESENT AMERICA INSPIRED! ON APRIL 25TH

March 31, 2026 - MONTCLAIR, NJ – In honor of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Montclair-based Oratorio Society of New Jersey (OSNJ) will present America Inspired! – a celebration of the diversity of American choral music from colonial days to the present. The concert will take place on Saturday, April 25th at 7:30pm at the Union Congregational Church, 176 Cooper Ave, Montclair, NJ. For more than 72 years, OSNJ has been bringing the best in choral music to New Jersey audiences.

America Inspired! will feature works by some of the most accomplished and famous American composers, including Barber, Bernstein, Billings, Copland, Ellington, Gershwin, and Thompson, among others. The concert will provide a flavor of the rich melting pot of influences and styles that is American music, including liturgical, spiritual, gospel, jazz, folk, and neo-classical.

The program will be conducted by Artistic Director Dr. Sándor Szabó. Dr. Szabó is a well-known, highly respected and prolific musician who directs several musical groups in the New York metropolitan area’s classical music community. The OSNJ will be accompanied by David Tisbert on piano and organ, and he and Dr. Szabó, in addition to the choral music on the program, will perform several pieces for two pianos.

Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door – plus OSNJ has introduced student pricing: $15 in advance, $20 at the door.
