BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Anthony's Cheesecake and Restaurant has donated to cause after cause over the years. And the Bloomfield community hasn’t forgotten it.
An outpouring of support for the business has been taking place since it was devastated by flood damage from Tropical Storm Ida – along with several others in the township. A local resident also lost their life due to the storm, which many weather experts and authorities said was the worst they’ve seen in decades. According to the campaign’s organizers:
“Hurricane Ida flash floods have completely ruined Anthony's. Compressors, floors, furniture, sheet rock, equipment … everything. All food was lost. Insurance is not helping. With their permission, and because they are too humble to create a GoFundMe themselves, we are raising funds to save this precious community gem! Anthony and Phil are always the first to support schools, organizations, animal groups, and every other person who knocks on their door for a donation. Now it’s our turn. All funds go directly to them and will be used to rebuild.”
True to their humble roots, the restaurant’s proprietors said that they appreciate the help – although they don’t like to ask for it.
