Pets Abandoned In Essex County: Dog Tied To Fence, Cat Left Outside Shelter
A dog was found tied to a fence near the Garden State Parkway. A woman riding a scooter left a cat outside an animal shelter.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Two pets were recently abandoned in Bloomfield.
The Bloomfield Animal Shelter recently shared two posts on social media about a dog and a cat that were found last week. Anyone with information can call the shelter at 973-748-0194.

Rescuers found a dog tied to a fence near the Garden State Parkway entrance on Summit Avenue on Tuesday, Sept. 8. The female dog had no collar, chip or tags.

A female cat was abandoned outside the shelter gate at 6:08 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12. Security footage shows what appears to be a woman riding an electric scooter drive up and secure the cat into crates, wave goodbye, and ride off.
“While some may believe this is a safe place to leave pets, it is dangerous, against the law, and leaves shelter staff with zero information on a pet’s needs, age, health, even simply a name,” the shelter wrote.
