Police Arrest West Orange Man After Shooting In Bloomfield

Several shell casings from three different caliber weapons were discovered at the scene, police said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Bloomfield police charged a West Orange resident with multiple weapons possession offenses after a shooting in the township earlier this month.

The Bloomfield Police Department released a statement about the shooting, which took place on Sept. 8:

“Officers responded to North 13th Street on report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found a victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to his shoulder. When officers stopped a vehicle that was leaving the scene, they noticed the driver was bleeding. They also observed two handguns on the passenger side floor of the vehicle. The driver, identified as Kasim Judd, 44, of West Orange, was placed under arrest. Mr. Judd was also injured on his hand as a result of him fleeing on foot through backyards prior to police arrival.”

“At the scene, several shell casings from three different caliber weapons were discovered. The preliminary investigation determined that there were three male suspects that fired at least 10 rounds at Mr. Judd and the gunshot victim. Those three suspects are still at large.”

Judd was charged with multiple weapons possession offenses, authorities said.
