Police Teamwork Leads To Arrests After Burglary In Bloomfield

Two burglary suspects were arrested after a joint effort between police in Bloomfield, Edison, Glen Ridge and West Orange, authorities say.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Two burglary suspects were arrested in Essex County last week after a joint effort between police in Bloomfield, Edison, Glen Ridge and West Orange, authorities say.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the burglary took place March 2 on Day Street in Bloomfield.

A witness told police that he saw two “suspicious” people enter his neighbor’s home and leave through the yard.

After arriving at the scene, officers found the rear door of the home unsecured. The resident of the home soon arrived and officers checked the residence, which had been rummaged through.

While processing evidence, detectives reviewed surveillance footage that showed the suspects and identified a vehicle connected to them.

Here’s what happened next, authorities said:

“The detectives’ investigation led to collaboration with Edison and West Orange detectives for similar crimes. Bloomfield detectives learned of the vehicle's location and immediately broadcast it to surrounding towns. It was then stopped by Glen Ridge police. Bloomfield detectives responded to identify the suspects and make the arrests.”

The suspects – later identified as Laurentiu Iancu, 35, of Aurora, Colorado, and Florin Vaduva, 33, of Kent, Washington – are also wanted for “various crimes” in California, Texas and Colorado, police said.

Bloomfield Police Chief George Ricci commended the involved officers and agencies that aided with the investigation.
