Robbery Reported In Bloomfield Near Belleville Hospital: Police

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A robbery was recently reported on Watsessing Avenue in Bloomfield, a few blocks away from Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, authorities said.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the victim told officers he was driving home on Oct. 26 when a man approached his car on Watsessing Avenue and demanded money.

The driver handed over $1,000 in cash and the man fled in “an unknown direction,” police said.

Police said the suspect was described as an African American male in his mid-forties, about 5 feet with a heavy build and dreadlocks. He was wearing a red-colored head rag, black sunglasses, a black-hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black gloves.

No further information was immediately available.
