Series Of Car Thefts, Attempted Thefts In Bloomfield (Here’s Where)
BPD: A rental car was stolen after it was left running. A thief stole a vehicle from a resident's driveway. See other recent incidents here.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A series of car thefts and attempted thefts were recently reported in Bloomfield, authorities announced Wednesday.
The Bloomfield Police Department released the following details about seven recent incidents that happened in the township:
Sept. 16 – “Officers responded to the 900 block of Broad Street on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. A resident parked her vehicle in her driveway overnight and when she went outside the following morning, she noticed it was missing. The vehicle, a black 2018 Kia Sportage, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”

Sept. 18 – “Officers responded to the area of North 16th Street and First Avenue on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The complainant left her rental vehicle running and unlocked near Caribe Food Market at 11:10a.m. and when she returned, it was missing. The vehicle, a black 2021 Hyundai Kona, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”
Sept. 18 – “Officers responded to the area of North 15th Street and Chester Avenue on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The complainant parked her vehicle and went into Ben’s Grill BBQ. When she returned, the vehicle was missing. The vehicle, a black 2020 Acura TLX, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”

Sept. 19 – “Officers responded to 122 Bloomfield Avenue (7-Eleven) on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. The complainant left his vehicle running and unlocked at the gas pumps while he went into 7-Eleven. A blue sedan entered the gas station and a male exited the vehicle. The male then entered the complainant’s vehicle and both vehicles fled the scene. The vehicle, a red 2021 Kia K5, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”
Sept. 20 – “Officers responded to the area of North 15th Street on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. A resident left her vehicle running and unlocked while she went inside her residence. She then observed a white vehicle pull up next to her vehicle. A male exited the vehicle and entered her vehicle and fled the scene. The vehicle, a blue 2024 Honda Civic, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”
Sept. 22 – “Officers responded to the 100 block of Davey Street on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. A resident parked her vehicle in her assigned garage overnight and when she returned the following morning, she noticed the garage was open and her vehicle was missing. The vehicle, a white 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.”
Sept. 22 – “Officers responded to the 100 block of Davey Street on report of an Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft. A resident parked her vehicle in the parking lot behind the building and when she returned, she noticed the rear passenger window was broken and the ignition was tampered with. This incident is under investigation.”
