2 Cars Stolen In Bloomfield; 1 Vehicle Recovered: Police
Other recent vehicle-related crimes included stolen catalytic converters, Bloomfield police said.
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Several motor vehicle-related crimes were reported in Bloomfield last week, including multiple stolen cars – and one that was recovered, authorities announced Wednesday.
The Bloomfield Police Department released the following details about incidents that recently took place in the township.
Aug. 22 – Officers responded to the 100-block of Essex Avenue after getting a report about a burglary and motor vehicle theft. A resident parked her vehicle in the driveway overnight and the following morning, she noticed it was missing. She also noticed the back window to her residence was opened and the key fob was missing from her purse. The vehicle, a white 2024 BMW X3, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.

Aug. 25 – Officers responded to 77 Bloomfield Avenue (Walgreens) after getting a report about a motor vehicle theft. A resident left his vehicle running and unlocked while he went into the store, and upon returning he noticed it was missing. The vehicle, a red 2018 Jeep Commander, was entered as stolen. This incident is under investigation.
Aug. 25 – Officers responded to the area of Day Street to notify a resident that his vehicle, a silver 2019 Kia Sportage, was recovered in the City of Newark. The vehicle was unoccupied and had ignition damage. The owner of the vehicle confirmed that he did not give anyone permission to use the vehicle and that it was taken from his driveway. This incident is under investigation.

Aug. 26 – Officers responded to the area of Memorial Parkway after getting multiple reports of theft from auto. Several residents noticed that their vehicles’ windows were broken and the vehicles were rummaged through. There were no items reported missing at this time. This incident is under investigation.
Aug. 27 – Officers responded to the 100-block of Spruce Street after getting a report about a theft. A resident parked her vehicle on the street overnight and upon returning to it the following morning, she noticed the catalytic converter was missing. This incident is under investigation.
Aug. 27 – Officers responded to the area of Floyd Avenue, Ampere Parkway and Columbus Avenue after getting multiple reports of theft. The complainants parked their vehicles on the street near their residences overnight and upon returning to them the following morning, they noticed the catalytic converters were missing. These incidents are under investigation.
