Several Unlocked Vehicles Stolen In Bloomfield: Here’s Where

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield continues to see thefts of cars left unlocked or running – and sometimes both, police said Wednesday.

According to the Bloomfield Police Department, the following incidents were recently reported in the township.

Feb. 14 – Officers responded to the area of Willet Street on report of a motor vehicle theft. At 6:45 a.m., a resident parked his assigned Verizon work vehicle, a white 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, in spot #34. He left the vehicle running and unlocked. When he returned to the same parking spot, the vehicle was missing. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. This incident is under investigation.

Feb. 15 – Officers responded to the area of 1129 Broad on report of a motor vehicle theft. The owner left his vehicle, a 2018 gray, four-door Honda Accord, running and unattended, in front of 1129 Broad Street and went into the bagel store. When he returned a few minutes later, the vehicle was missing. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. This incident is under investigation.

Feb. 15 - Officers responded to the 400-block of Beardsley Avenue on report of a motor vehicle theft. The owner left her vehicle, a 2004 Silver Honda CRV, running and unattended, warming up in her driveway and went back inside. When she returned to her vehicle at 6:51 a.m., the vehicle was missing. The vehicle was recovered at 7:57 a.m., idling and unoccupied, in the area of LaFrance Avenue. This incident is under investigation.

Feb. 17 - Officers responded to 154 Bloomfield Avenue (Avenue Motors) on report of a motor vehicle theft. The caller had video surveillance which showed an employee from Avenue Motors moving vehicles around in the lot. The employee left a vehicle running and unlocked on LaFrance Avenue but took the keys with him. At that time, three men wearing dark clothing entered the vehicle and fled the area. The vehicle is a black Lexus GS 350 with no license plates. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. This incident is under investigation.

Feb. 19 – Officers responded to 318 Bloomfield Avenue (Lynne’s Nissan) on report of three stolen vehicles. The manager was made aware by Newark police that there were three vehicles in their city with no plates, but visible Lynne’s Nissan window stickers that were involved in a motor vehicle accident. It was later discovered that the three vehicles, an Audi A4, Infiniti Q50 and a Nissan Rouge were stolen from the Lynne’s lot. Three other vehicles in lot were also damaged. The vehicles were entered NCIC stolen. This incident is under investigation.

Feb. 19 - Officers responded to the 100 block of Walnut Street on report of a stolen motor vehicle. The owner parked his vehicle in his driveway on Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. with the windows and doors locked. When he woke up the following morning, Feb. 20, at about 7 a.m., the vehicle was no longer there. The vehicle was entered NCIC stolen. This incident is under investigation.
