Shredding, Recycling Events This Fall In Essex County
Mark your calendars for October if you need to get rid of hazardous waste, shred items, or dispose of old computers and electronics.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Three shredding and item collection days are scheduled this fall in Bloomfield and Essex County, and the township released dates so residents may mark their calendars.
Essex County's next hazardous waste collection day is on Oct. 1 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
This is for disposal of items like oil-based paints and stains, batteries, and pool chemicals. This collection will be at the Essex County Fleet Management (99 West Bradford Avenue, Cedar Grove). For more information, call (973)-792-9060 or visit www.ecuanj.com

The Bloomfield Township semi-annual fall shredding event returns Oct. 8 from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. in the parking lot at Pulaski Park (24 Mt. Vernon Avenue). This event is only open to Bloomfield citizens, not commercial or industrial facilities. Proof of residency is required, the township said.
Finally, the county's Computer & Electronics Collection Day will be at Essex County Fleet Management on Oct. 15 from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Also, fall holidays will affect garbage and recycling collection just in Bloomfield on Sept. 5, Nov. 25, and Dec. 24. "Garbage pickup will be suspended until the next regularly scheduled day, whereas recycling will be collected the next business day," the township said.
