Snowstorm Hits Bloomfield: Parking, Schools, Garbage

Here's how the snowstorm is impacting Bloomfield on Monday.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A day after Gov. Phil Murphy declared a snow-related state of emergency in New Jersey, the ugly weather continues to impact Bloomfield.

SCHOOLS

The Bloomfield Public Schools was closed on Monday, March 4. All after-school activities and aftercare were canceled.

Due to "anticipated inclement weather," Bloomfield College was closed on Monday, March 4.

GARBAGE

Trash and recycling pick up for Monday, March 4 was cancelled in Bloomfield.

“Monday's garbage will be picked up on your next regularly scheduled day which is Thursday,” town officials said. “Monday's Commingled Recycling (bottles cans and plastics) will be picked up on Wednesday.”

There are no other changes to the schedule, officials stated Sunday.

PARKING

The Bloomfield Police Department issued the following advisory on Sunday:

“The forecast is calling for the possibility of significant amounts of snow. If you reside on a street that prohibits parking when the roadway is snow covered, please move your vehicles from the roadway once it becomes snow covered. The streets need to cleared so that the Department of Public Works can clean the roadways properly from curb to curb. If you are parked in violation on a snow-covered street, you may receive a summons and/or your vehicle may be towed.”

Alternate Side Parking Enforcement was suspended in Bloomfield on Monday, March 4, officials said.

Alternate Side Parking Enforcement will resume on Tuesday, March 5, officials stated.
