Some Staff Will Lose Jobs In Bloomfield College, MSU Merger: Report

Nearly two dozen employees at Bloomfield College are reportedly not being offered jobs at Montclair State as the schools prepare to merge.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Nearly two dozen employees at Bloomfield College are not being offered jobs at Montclair State University as the schools prepare for a merger, a report says.

At least 10 faculty members and 12 other workers – or about 13 percent of the college’s staff – were notified Wednesday that they will not have jobs when the schools combine on June 30, although they will remain employed until the merger, NJ.com reported.

“We understand deeply that this is affecting people’s lives,” Montclair State University President Jonathan Koppell said. “We are doing our best to offer positions to as many people are possible.”
