Halloween festivities in Bloomfield kick off Saturday with the town's annual "Spooktacular" and "Scream on the Green."
The ghoulish activities begin at 4 p.m. with light refreshments at the Civic Center and magic show at 4:30 p.m. Kids can enjoy trick-or-treating, a bean bag toss, costume contest and pumpkin patch at 5:30 p.m. There will also be a "guess the weight of the pumpkin" contest.
Families can wander the haunted courtyard – if they dare! – and show off their artistic skills at the jack-o-lantern contest. Bring pre-carved pumpkins to the town green to be judged.
Categories are broken up into age groups and include most original, best of show and best Bloomfield theme.
Saturday's events were organized by the Bloomfield Recreation Department and Bicentennial Committee, and co-sponsored by the Bloomfield FMBA, Bloomfield PBA and Brookside Garden Center.
In case of inclement weather, the events will be moved to Bloomfield High School's cafeteria.
