St. Thomas The Apostle Students Inducted Into Scouts

Last night five of our Cub Scouts received the Arrow of Light Award, the highest award in Cub Scouts, and graduated to Boy Scouts. They were inducted into Boy Scout Troop 22.

The Scouts were: John Paul Garrison, Peter McLaughlin, Carlos Pomares, Jr., Ken McGowan and Jack Lardner.

Bloomfield Councilmen Joanow and Gamble and Essex County Freeholder Carlos Pomares Sr. attended the ceremony and congratulated the Scouts.

The Scouts were also recognized by the following leaders:

• His Holiness, Pope Francis
• Phil Murphy, Governor of the State of New Jersey
• Cory A. Booker, United States Senator, State of New Jersey
• Robert Menendez, United States Senator, State of New Jersey
• Donald M. Payne, Jr., United States Congressman for the 10^th Congressional District of New Jersey
• Rodney P. Frelinghuysen, United States Congressman for the 11^th Congressional District of New Jersey
• The New Jersey State Senate New Jersey, upon the motion of Senator Ronald L. Rice
• The Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders, by Brendan W. Gill, President, with much thanks to our assistant den leader, Freeholder and sponsor, the Honorable Carlos Pomares, Sr.
• The Township of Bloomfield, by Mayor Michael J. Venizia, with much thanks to Pack 22’s special friends, Councilman, Nicholas Joanow and Ted Gamble
