Stabbing In Bloomfield Home; Cops Arrest East Orange Man
Bloomfield police arrested an East Orange man who allegedly stabbed a 31-year-old acquaintance in his Dodd Street home.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Police have arrested an East Orange man who allegedly stabbed a 31-year-old acquaintance in his home earlier this week on Dodd Street in Bloomfield.
According to the Bloomfield Police Department, officers arrested Andre Roberts, 51, without incident at his East Orange home around 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
The previous evening, Bloomfield officers responded to Dodd Street on a report of a stabbing. On arrival, a 31-year-old male victim – who said he was Roberts’ acquaintance - told officers that the East Orange resident walked into his house, stabbed him in the shoulder and leg, then fled before police arrived.

Bloomfield police released the following statement about the incident:

“Roberts arrived at the residence and was allowed in the home by a member of the victim’s family. [He] proceeded to the back room where the victim was sitting. There was some type of disagreement which led to Roberts pulling out a folding knife and stabbing the victim. The incident was also captured on victim’s security camera.”
The victim was treated and released from the hospital for multiple lacerations, which were non-life threatening, police said.
Authorities charged Roberts with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. He was transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility to be held pending a bail hearing.
