Stolen In Bloomfield: Condoms, Snow Plow, Surveyor’s Stand

Three unusual thefts took place in Bloomfield, police said.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Three unusual thefts took place in Bloomfield earlier this month, including stolen condoms, a pilfered surveyor’s stand and a swiped snow plow, authorities said.

The Bloomfield Police Department provided the following information about three incidents that recently took place in the township:

Dec. 18 - An officer on routine patrol in the area of 8 Franklin Street (Stop & Shop) was approached by the loss prevention officer who had a shoplifter in custody. The male suspect was held in the loss prevention room for placing Dove body soaps and Trojan condoms in his backpack (total value of $98). He was placed under arrest, transported to headquarters, processed, charged with shoplifting and released with a pending court date.

Dec. 20 - An officer responded to Orange Street and Willow Street on a report of a theft. The complainant was performing a survey in the area and he walked away from his surveyor’s stand to continue his survey. Upon returning, the surveyor’s stand was missing (valued at approximately $300). Officers were unable to locate any witnesses but a nearby business has an exterior video surveillance camera.

Dec. 21 - An officer was dispatched to 1409 Broad Street (ShopRite) on a theft report. The owner of Veech Construction reported he left his work vehicle parked in the ShopRite lot on Dec. 17 at 5 p.m. He returned on Dec. 21 and discovered a Western Wideout model snow plow missing from his truck (valued at $800). This incident is under investigation.
