Student Art Competition: Open for Submissions in Bloomfield
Deadline is April 17 for Congressional contest.

Do you know a local high school student with a flair for art?
The 2015 Congressional Art Competition is officially open to high school students who live in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District, which includes Bloomfield, Caldwell, Cedar Grove, Essex Fells, Fairfield, Livingston, Montclair, North Caldwell, Nutley, Roseland, Verona, West Caldwell and West Orange.
Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in each congressional district across the United States. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated, according to a release.

Submissions are due by 5 p.m., on Friday, April 17.
There will be a reception honoring the contestants at the Morris Museum on April 27, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

“I continue to be amazed by the artistic talent displayed by students of our district in the annual Congressional Art Competition,” Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen stated in a release. “I wish the best of luck to all contestants and am very excited to view the new submissions this year.”
