BLOOMFIELD, NJ — A New Jersey Donald Trump supporter reportedly got a crowbar beating because of his choice of attire last week, authorities say.

The 62-year-old male victim told Bloomfield police that he was walking on West Passaic Avenue on Aug. 3 when a man in an older-model, grey vehicle began to razz him about his Donald Trump t-shirt.

Police said that the alleged Trump-hater then followed the victim to the Friendly’s Restaurant on Broad Street and approached him in the parking lot with a crowbar in hand. The man then started struggling with the senior citizen and eventually struck him several times on the forearms, hands and thighs. He reportedly fled the scene before police arrived.

Authorities are investigating the incident, Bloomfield police stated.

Last week’s alleged Trump-related beating hasn’t been the only recent incident of violence from the Republican Presidential candidate’s supporters and haters. In April, Rhode Island State Police arrested two males who reportedly had a fistfight outside a Donald Trump rally after one young man pushed his way through a crowd of Trump supporters and spat in another’s face.

Later that month, a clash between protestors, Donald Trump supporters and police turned violent outside a Trump rally in Costa Mesa, CA, with reports of fistfights, broken police car windows and more than 20 arrests.

In June, violence erupted outside a pro-Trump rally that saw hundreds of protesters, including one reportedly wearing a shirt with the words "Trump Die" written across the front.

Last year, two brothers were accused of beating a homeless man and urinating on him, then allegedly crediting Trump with the inspiration behind the act.
