IRVINGTON, NJ — A renovation project at Irvington Park has crossed the finish line, and it is good news for local tennis and pickleball players, county officials announced Friday.

Officials released the following details about the upgrades in the county-run park, which is located in Irvington:

“The tennis courts in Irvington Park were updated with a new playing surface, fencing and netting. One of the courts was converted to accommodate two pickleball courts to provide new recreation opportunities for the popular new sport. These improvements were designed in-house by the Department of Public Works staff, which also managed the project to make sure delays were avoided. Shore Top Construction Corp. of Howell was awarded a publicly bid contract for $438,750 to perform the construction work. This was funded with a grant from the American Rescue Program.”

Friday’s announcement got a round of applause from New Jersey Sen. Renee Burgess and Irvington Mayor Tony Vauss.
