Utility Assistance Day In Bloomfield: Learn How To Sign Up For Aid

Need help paying your energy or water bills? An upcoming "Utility Assistance Day" in Bloomfield might answer your questions.

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Need help paying your energy or water bills? An upcoming “Utility Assistance Day” in Bloomfield might answer some pressing questions you have about signing up for aid.

The public event will take place on Wednesday, March 26 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Bloomfield Town Hall, 1 Municipal Plaza. Registration is not required, but is encouraged and can be done online here.

Visitors can get help applying for energy bill reduction programs such as the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and the Universal Service Fund (USF), organizers said.

Additional assistance will be provided for residents who are behind on their water bills, thanks to the Municipal Customer Assistance Program offered by NJ Shares.

In addition to utility assistance, Hunger Free NJ will be available to help families apply for Summer EBT and answer any questions about this critical program.

Guests should remember to bring:

  • One month proof of income statement for all household members 18 and over.
  • Copies of social security cards or residency status for all household members.
  • Proof of address (copy of rental lease or housing authority letter). If homeowner, tax bill, mortgage statement, or deed.
  • All pages of electric bill, natural gas or heating bills.

The event is being hosted by New Jersey Assembly members Carmen Morales and Michael Venezia, and New Jersey Sen. Britnee Timberlake. The legislators are partnering with the following entities for this event: New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, New Jersey Shares, La Casa De Don Pedro, and Hunger Free New Jersey.
