Vanessa Lamison: Player of the Week

Bloomfield College senior named Women's Basketball Player of the Week by CACC

Bloomfield College senior guard Vanessa Lamison (Laurel, Md.) has been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending December 11, 2011, in results released this week.

One of the top guards in the league and a premier perimeter defender, Lamison averaged 10.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 3.3 steals over the Lady Deacons' three-game week, going for a team-high 18 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and four steals in Bloomfield's 69-65 loss to Dominican College Tuesday, December 6.  Lamison totaled at least seven points and seven rebounds in all three contests, leading the Lady Deacons to a 2-1 week and helping the team even their CACC record at 2-2 with a pair of conference victories.

For the season, Lamison is averaging 9.5 points per game, good for second on the Lady Deacons.  The senior is currently second in the CACC behind fellow teammate Lauren Deverin (Sewaren, N.J.) in field-goal percentage, shooting just under 54% from the field in the 2011-2012 campaign.

"We're happy for Vanessa, she certainly deserves this recognition," Bloomfield head coach Jerry Wimberly said.  "She has played well so far this season, and is really started to hit her stride.  She's a very hard worker and a great leader for us, so hopefully this is the start of a great senior season for her."

Bloomfield returns to action Saturday, December 17 with a non-conference road contest against Elizabeth City State University.  Tip-off for the contest is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
